Short description of the overall project
The Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) has approved a €20 million loan to Serbia to finance the reconstruction and modernisation of the newly formed state-owned Aviation Academy College of Applied Studies. Established by the Serbian Government in May 2021, the college will consist of two aviation training centres in Vršac and Belgrade, and will offer comprehensive professional training for aircraft pilots, air traffic controllers, aircraft maintenance staff and cabin crew, within the state education system, in a dual education model. The project will therefore directly contribute towards the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals on quality education and reduced inequality.
It is expected that the two existing aviation training centres in Vršac and Belgrade will be fully renovated and provisioned with specialised equipment, technology, and onsite accommodation facilities by mid-2023.
