Short description of the overall project

The project (also being funded by the Government of Poland) aims at promoting the use of renewable energy in the country and creating jobs through the establishment of a new solar thermal panel production facility equipped with advanced modern technologies and employing well-trained local men and women.

The coordination of the project is being carried out through a Project Steering Committee consisting of representatives of the national Energy Efficiency Agency (EEA) and/or the Ministry of Economy, UNIDO and other major stakeholders. EEA as the main national partner cooperates in the execution of this project and ensure alignment with the national energy policy priorities and ensure that the technology transfer will be facilitated through this project.

It is expected that market players from the Polish renewable energy sector will contribute to the project; a Polish company will be identified as a potential project partner to assist in the transfer of the necessary technology to set up a production site for solar thermal technology in Moldova. The project is the first phase of a larger initiative to transfer low-cost solar thermal technologies to Moldova. This larger initiative is estimated to cost approximately EUR 700,000.
