Short description of the overall project

The overall objective of the Project “Catalysing market transformation for industrial energy efficiency and accelerate investments in best available practices and technologies in North Macedonia” is to accelerate North Macedonian market transformation for industrial energy efficiency by strengthening policy, regulatory and institutional frameworks and supporting increased diffusion of and investment in best available industrial energy efficiency practices and technologies. 

The project aims to raise the profile of industry within the energy efficiency (EE) policy-making and institutional space and to catalyse the establishment of a long-term programmatic framework that promotes and support sustainable improvement of industrial energy efficiency and climate footprint.

The project builds on the North Macedonian Government’s focus on developing legislation and capacity for meeting the obligations and targets set out in the Energy Community Treaty and complements it with targeted support for energy efficiency policy implementation, incentives and increased capacity for industrial energy efficiency.

Short description of activities financed by  the donation

The Project consists of three Components.

• Component 1 - Strengthening North Macedonian policy, regulatory and institutional frameworks and capacity for market transformation for industrial energy efficiency and green industry
• Component 2 - Market development support for deployment and diffusion of best available practices and technologies for energy efficiency and environmental sustainability in industry
• Component 3 -  Scaling-up of investments in energy efficiency technologies for industry.
