Fund for Energy Efficiency (FEE), established in 2015, is HFH Macedonia’s partnership with MFI Moznosti, continuing successful cooperation for housing microfinance program, flagship of the organization since 2005. Through this project HFH Macedonia supported 226 households in improving the quality of living and housing conditions, by providing housing microloans for energy efficient reconstructions of individual substandard homes.

Retail Lending (RL) project is HFH Macedonia’s initiative for providing loans for energy efficiency housing upgrades for individual houses and apartments as well for collective residential buildings. This project deals with the retail and quasi‐retail loan portfolio of HFH Macedonia, so far benefited 1.390 from 2009.

Market Development Initiative (MDI) has been selected by Habitat for Humanity International’s Terwilliger Center for Innovation in Shelter, officially launched in Quito, Ecuador, at the Habitat III conference. The project in Macedonia is designed to include market mappings and investment analysis, as well as to develop mechanisms aimed at stimulating market actors to design and deliver appropriate products, services and financing, geared towards scaling provision of affordable and decent housing for low income people.

Providing decent housing solutions for people in need project is supported by the International corporate Foundation Saint-Gobain. The main beneficiaries of the proposed activity are 20 people with intellectual disability living in the two houses owned by Poraka Negotino, part of the community-based supported housing program. The proposed activity will provide support to the efforts of Poraka Negotino to provide decent living conditions for people with mental handicap, outside of the mental institutions. It will improve the energy efficiency of the houses, reducing the energy bills for this community and reducing the carbon footprint as well. The activity will not only support the improvement of the living conditions, but it will also ensure integration, inclusion, sustainability and productiveness of the persons with mental handicap.

Register of Apartment Buildings and Apartments (RABA) project is an ongoing initiative of HFH Macedonia to establish a Register of residential buildings and the Register of managers of residential buildings, pursuant to Article 112, paragraph 2 from the Law of the housing. The project involve activities that will improve residential energy efficiency in municipalities in Macedonia, also raise public awareness of the importance of energy efficiency. Project activities focus on carrying out a survey to establish the Register of residential buildings and register of managers, advice on improving the energy efficiency of collective residential buildings, improving the capacity of tenants and communities of owners management and maintenance of residential buildings, encouraging investment, entrepreneurship and creation of new jobs in the energy efficiency sector. From 2005, the registers for 29 municipalities are completed and published on web page domuvanje.org.mk.

HFH Macedonia was included in implementation of one of the objectives of the Residential Energy Efficiency for Low Income Housholds Project 2 (REELIH 2), implemented by Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI), financed by USAID. The project in Macedonia is designed to assess the prospective energy savings, CO2 emission reductions and Particulate Matter (PM) emission reductions from collective apartment buildings in two municipalities in Macedonia; to prepare and deliver the Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP)/Program for two municipalities, as recommended by the Initiative 2020 of the Covenant of Mayors that would include residential sector and financial allocation for REE interventions; and to advocate for a sustainable model for financial participation of local governments and private sector actors in REE interventions in Macedonia. Project results are expected to be shared with local stakeholders, as well as with in the targeted region with the project.
