Reducing industrial emissions protects the environment, climate and health in Ukraine
Beneficiary Country:
Short description of the overall project
Based on the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, Ukraine is committed to EU climate targets and to the EU Industrial Emissions Directive (IED). The challenge is to limit GHG by 2030 to today’s level while industry will recover. This requires the use of best available techniques (BAT), as foreseen in the IED, in existing and new industries. The regulatory framework implementing the IED is, however, not in place, and industries and state authorities are lacking know-how and experience in using BAT.
Short description of activities financed by the donation
The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, and other Ministries are supported in setting up a regulatory framework for the implementation of the IED, fostering technology transfer, facilitating capacity development, developing financing instruments, and demonstrating the use of BAT.
