Ukraine Energy Support Fund finances 18 MW of mobile gas turbines to reinforce electricity supply
The Ukraine Energy Support Fund will finance the procurement and delivery of mobile gas turbines providing up to 18MW of additional power to reinforce Ukraine’s electricity supply still ahead of the coming winter. This contract is part of a broader effort to enhance the resilience and reliability of Ukraine's generation capacity infrastructure in the face of potential challenges during the colder months and ongoing Russian attacks.
The mobile gas generators will be crucial in ensuring a stable electricity supply, particularly during peak demand periods and in the event of any disruptions. These units are expected to be deployed in key areas across the country, offering flexible and rapid response capabilities to support the grid. The swift procurement and delivery of these units will play a vital role in ensuring that households and businesses have reliable access to electricity throughout the winter season.
The Ukraine Energy Support Fund was established with the objective of providing financial assistance to repair Ukraine’s critical energy infrastructure damaged by Russian attacks and ensuring the continued functionality of the energy sector. It is managed by the Energy Community Secretariat and implemented in close cooperation with the USAID finance ESP and the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine, with contributions from governments, international organizations, and corporate donors.
To date the Fund has reached EUR 503 million in pledges from inter alia Germany, European Union, Sweden, United States, Denmark, Great Britain, Switzerland, Austria, Australia, Spain, Belgium and Iceland.
