Secretariat welcomes City of Pirot, Serbia, in the Clean Air Regions Initiative
In a step towards combating air pollution, the City of Pirot in the Republic of Serbia has officially joined the Clean Air Regions Initiative.
The Initiative, launched by the Secretariat upon the call of ambitious municipalities in 2021, aims to address the urgent issue of air pollution by fostering cooperation among municipalities and regions. Mayors from participating municipalities have collectively agreed to work towards creating, adopting, and maintaining Local Air Quality Plans and to implement corresponding measures to reduce air pollution within their respective areas.
The Clean Air Regions Initiative is an open-ended initiative, allowing municipalities that align with its objectives to join voluntarily. Pirot's decision to become a part of this crucial effort underscores their commitment to improving air quality for their residents and the environment.
