Danish contribution to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund fully utilised

10 February 2023

The Ukraine Energy Support Fund's procurement activity is operating at full steam. The Fund recently reported full utilisation of the grant by Denmark, through the Danish Energy Agency, and two donations by private donors. With these grants 21 different kinds of items requested by eight different Ukrainian companies (mostly active in electricity and gas distribution) were financed. The Secretariat is the fiduciary for the Fund.

The Secretariat’s Deputy Director Dirk Buschle said: “The Danish contribution made an impact which goes beyond these direct benefits for the Ukrainian energy system: the experience made helped the Ukraine Energy Support Fund rise to its potential. The Fund today procures and disburses three-digit million EUR amounts aimed at ensuring the stable operation of the energy system of Ukraine.”

ON THE UKRAINE ENERGY SUPPORT FUND:
The Energy Community Secretariat acts as the fiduciary of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund, which was established to purchase fuels, equipment, services and capital needed to repair and rebuild energy infrastructure affected by the ongoing Russian aggression. The funds were disbursed on the basis of the contractual framework between Denmark as donor, the Secretariat and the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine. The procurement of the equipment and other needed items is conducted by an independent procurement agent.
Potential vendors are invited to notify availability of energy equipment to be purchased from the fund via a dedicated web page, or write to [email protected].
