Ukraine Energy Support Fund: Ministry of Energy approves EUR 107 million package of support requested by Ukraine’s energy companies
Last week, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine approved support requests by 30 energy companies under the Ukraine Energy Support Fund for the procurement of essential energy equipment at an estimated value of over EUR 107 million. The Ministry’s decision triggered the procurement procedure for the requested items, including power transformers, generators, valves, pumps, pipes, oil transformers, surge arresters, batteries, disconnectors, wires, insulators and circuit breakers, to be conducted by an independent procurement agent.
The Ukraine Energy Support Fund has been set up by the Secretariat to help Ukrainian energy companies in repairing and rebuilding damaged energy infrastructure and restore electricity, heat and hot water to Ukrainian families, businesses, hospitals and schools.
Before procurement on the global markets, the Ministry of Energy of Ukraine needs to identify companies eligible for support under the Fund, approve their support requests and prioritize them in line with objective and predetermined criteria. The procurement of the requested items is conducted by an independent procurement agent on behalf of the Ukrainian energy companies eligible for funding, after which disbursements are made to vendors and suppliers by the Energy Community Secretariat as the fiduciary of the Fund.
The Secretariat maintains a database of prospective suppliers of equipment, fuels and services that may be contacted by independent procurement agents if their offer matches the needs of Ukrainian energy companies. Potential suppliers, including those based in Ukraine, are invited to present their portfolio via the website of the Energy Community.
