Ukraine adopts Gas Storage Certification Law

On 29 December, the President of Ukraine signed the Gas Storage Certification Law. Certification of gas storage system operators is a key element of the Gas Storage Regulation adopted by the Ministerial Council in October 2022.  The mechanism strengthens security of gas supply in the Energy Community Contracting Parties and EU Member States. 
 
According to the Gas Storage Regulation, all gas storage system operators in those Contracting Parties that have storages, notably Serbia and Ukraine, have to undergo a certification procedure, which includes a binding opinion by the Energy Community Secretariat. The national certifying authority must comply with that opinion in its final certification decision.
