North Macedonia becomes first Contracting Party to donate emergency energy equipment to Ukraine
North Macedonia has become the first Energy Community Contracting Party to donate emergency energy equipment to Ukraine. Six electricity transformers given in-kind by the distribution system operator Elektrodistribucija DOOEL, a daughter company of EVN North Macedonia, were delivered to Ukraine. The delivery of the shipment was coordinated by the Secretariat’s Ukraine Support Task Force.
Director Lorkowski said: “The Secretariat is making every effort to support Ukraine and its people, including through coordinating the shipments of specialized energy equipment donations. As of today, the work of the Ukraine Support Task Force has resulted in the delivery of more than 300 metric tonnes of emergency equipment valued at over three million euros.”
Minister of Energy of Ukraine, German Galushchenko, said: “We are grateful to North Macedonia and Energy Community colleagues for helping us rebuild energy infrastructure damaged during the war. This is an example of the true solidarity that the Energy Community is built on. Donations are needed now more than ever to prepare for the upcoming winter season.”
Chairman of the Management Board of EVN Macedonia, Stefan Peter, said: “We hope our donation will provide immediate relief to families left without electricity due to the war. We are grateful to the Energy Community Secretariat for helping us do our bit to help Ukraine.”
The Secretariat’s Ukraine Support Task Force coordinates first aid shipments of critical specialised energy equipment to Ukraine donated by private companies. More than 10.000 items are on the list of requested emergency energy equipment. If your company, association or country is ready to help, please contact the USTF: [email protected].
