Energy Community welcomes Ukrenergo’s observer membership in ENTSO-E
Today, Ukrenergo, the Ukrainian transmission system operator, and ENTSO-E, the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Electricity, signed an Observer Membership Agreement. This follows the successful emergency synchronization of the power system of Ukraine with the Continental European power system on 16 March.
Director Lorkowski said: “Today marks an important milestone for the development of the European energy market. I commend Ukrenergo for joining the European family of transmission system operators as observer and the relentless work of ENTSO-E to make this happen. Ukraine has proved it can maintain the stability of its electricity system during extraordinary condition of war but it is the Ukrainian people which need our support now to restore electricity, heating and hot water. We at the Secretariat will do our utmost to assist the Ukrainian energy sector during the war and ensure its post-war revitalisation.”
