Secretariat’s new Director on working visit to Moldova

His first mission took Director Lorkowski to Moldova. Moldova has been experiencing a gas supply crisis very recently. Director Lorkowski met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spînu, and the board members of the Moldovan National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE). He also met with Deputy Director General of the European Commission’s DG NEAR, Katarina Mathernova. During the two-day visit, Mr Lorkowski was accompanied by Deputy Director Buschle.

The topics addressed included assistance provided by the Energy Community to finalize a package of energy-specific legislation, to increase the resilience of the electricity and gas markets in Moldova, and to support its institutions including the Ministry and ANRE. During the visit, it was agreed that the Secretariat will set up a project office in Chisinau with dedicated staff to help advancing the ambitious reform agenda of the country. The establishment of the office will start immediately.
