Marko Bislimoski re-appointed as ECRB President for next two years
At its 50th plenary meeting in Athens, the Energy Community Regulatory Board (ECRB) reappointed Mr Marko Bislimoski, President of the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission of North Macedonia, as ECRB President for 2022-2023.
“I am very grateful for the trust and support of my colleagues,” the newly elected ECRB President stated. “Regulatory coordination across borders and on a regional basis will become even more important in the upcoming years with the new acquis on electricity market integration with our EU partners on the horizon. I am proud to see that ECRB is a well-established, strong and independent regional body of regulatory expertise with committed members who support each other in addressing the joint challenges ahead,” he added.
The Energy Community Regulatory Board (ECRB) is the independent regional body of energy regulators. Its plenary meetings gather representatives of regulatory authorities of the Energy Community Contracting Parties and the European Union, the Energy Community Secretariat and the European Commission and the Agency for the Cooperation of European Energy Regulators (ACER). The meetings are hosted at the premises of the Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) of Greece in Athens.
In his welcome address, Dr Dimitrios Psychoyios, first Vice-President of RAE, emphasised the key role of ECRB in ensuring regional regulatory cooperation and coordination. This plenary was dedicated to discussing the recent energy price surge and the measures taken to mitigate their impact on the final energy consumers. ECRB will analyse the current situation in an upcoming report.
The 50th Plenary meeting also approved the ECRB work programme for 2022 as well as a series of monitoring reports on the development of electricity and gas markets in the Contracting Parties – namely on the development of gas and electricity wholesale and retail markets, congestion at gas interconnection points and compliance with transparency requirements for the gas sector.
