Moldova to acquire tool to monitor energy efficiency developments
On 18 March, EU4Energy Governance launched a technical assistance project to support Moldova with the development of a web-based Monitoring and Verification Platform (MVP) that will assist authorities in measuring progress towards energy efficiency targets and calculate energy savings.
The first meeting of the working group, co-organized by the Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure of Moldova and the Energy Community Secretariat, focused on the presentation of the future tool and its functionalities. In the course of the next two months, experts will work on developing the innovative, customized tool in which energy efficiency developments following the National Energy Efficiency Action Plan can be monitored.
The assistance is part of the EU4Energy support for the country in fulfilling its commitments under the Energy Community Treaty.
* The EU4Energy Initiative covers all EU support to improve energy supply, security and connectivity, as well as to promote energy efficiency and the use of renewables in the Eastern Partner countries Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. It does this by financing projects and programmes that help to reform energy markets and to reduce national energy dependence and consumption. Over the longer term, this makes energy supply more reliable, transparent and affordable, thus reducing energy poverty and energy bills for both citizens and the private sector.
