REMINDER: Deadline to submit candidate priority infrastructure projects PECI/PMI approaching

17 February 2020

The Energy Community Secretariat launched the call for key regional infrastructure projects that may benefit from EU technical assistance and grants and streamlined permitting procedures on 3 February 2020. To qualify, the project must have a cross-border impact and help the Energy Community to achieve its energy and climate policy objectives. The call is open to the following categories of projects: electricity transmission, storage, smart grid; gas transmission, storage, LNG/CNG infrastructure; oil transmission and storage. The deadline for submission is no later than 28 February 2020 (midnight CET).

Project promoters may either submit a proposal for a Project of Energy Community Interest (PECI) – a project between two Contracting Parties or between a Contracting Party and an EU Member State having obtained first the status of Project of Common Interest (PCI) within the EU - or Project of Mutual Interest (PMI) –  an infrastructure project between a Contracting Party and an EU Member State that has no PCI status on the EU side.

Project submissions must be made by filling out the corresponding project questionnaire and sending it via email to [email protected] by no later than 28 February 2020, as a joint submission of cooperating project promoters. Joint submission means that a single questionnaire file shall be sent to the aforementioned email address and the questionnaire has been filled out in cooperation with the project promoters. The project submission email shall include in copy (cc) all the project promoters jointly submitting the application.

Additional information about the project criteria and submission process can be accessed via the link below.

Parallel to the call for projects, the Secretariat also launched the country data collection process. Country data serves as a framework for the assessment of the submitted projects. The Secretariat has contacted the relevant Ministries of the Contracting Parties and requested the submission of country-specific data no later than 28 February 2020.

For any questions with regards to the call for projects, country data submission or the PECI/PMI process itself, do not hesitate to contact the Secretariat at: [email protected].
